Taco Dip
A perfect taco dip that is sure to be a crowd favourite at your next party!
Ingredients:
2 lbs ground beef
4 tbsp taco seasoning, divided
½ cup water
250g (1 pkg) cream cheese
500ml sour cream
3 medium avocados
Salt, to taste
Juice of ½ lime
1 cup salsa
1 tomato, diced
Iceberg lettuce, diced
Shredded cheese (cheddar or Mexican blend)
4 green onions, diced
Tortilla chips (for serving)
Directions:
Cook the Ground Beef: In a large saucepan, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain any excess fat, then return the beef to the pan. Add 2 tbsp of taco seasoning and the water. Stir and cook until the beef is well-coated with the seasoning. Set aside to cool.
Make the Cream Cheese Layer: In a bowl, combine the cream cheese and sour cream. Use a hand mixer to beat until smooth and there are no lumps. Add the remaining 2 tbsp of taco seasoning and mix until fully combined.
Assemble the Layers: Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly into the bottom of an 8x8 baking dish.
Prepare the Guacamole: In a separate bowl, mash the avocados with lime juice and salt. Mash until smooth, or leave a few chunks for texture, if desired. Spread the guacamole evenly on top of the cream cheese layer.
Layer the Remaining Ingredients: Spread the salsa over the guacamole. Then layer on the seasoned ground beef, diced tomatoes, iceberg lettuce, shredded cheese, and diced green onions.
Chill: Cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to let the flavors meld.
Serve: Serve the dip cold with your favorite tortilla chips for dipping.
