Gougere Puffs
These French cheese puffs are full of fresh herbs that make for a great snack!
Ingredients:
8 tbsp butter
¼ tsp salt
1 cup flour
4 eggs
1 cup Gruyère cheese, grated
1 ½ tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
1 ½ tbsp fresh dill, chopped
1 tbsp fresh chives, chopped
1 cup water
Directions:
Make the Dough: In a saucepan, combine butter, salt, and water. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Once boiling, remove from heat and immediately stir in the flour all at once. Use a wooden spoon to beat the mixture until the flour is fully incorporated.
Cook the Dough: Return the saucepan to moderate heat and continue cooking the dough, stirring constantly, until it becomes stiff and pulls away from the sides of the pan, about 3-4 minutes.
Incorporate the Eggs: Remove the dough from the heat. Beat in the eggs one at a time, making sure each egg is fully incorporated before adding the next. Stir in the grated Gruyère cheese, parsley, dill, and chives until well combined.
Shape the Gougères: Transfer the dough to a piping bag or use two spoons to drop small mounds of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Bake: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Bake the gougères for 25-30 minutes, or until they are puffed up, golden brown, and crispy on the outside.
Serve: Let the gougères cool for a few minutes before serving warm. Enjoy the cheesy, herby goodness!
