French Toast Bake
Ingredients:
Dipping Mixture:
Loaf of Sourdough bread, cut into sticks (or your favourite type of bread)
3 eggs
¾ cup milk
2 tsp vanilla
1 tbsp sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
Custard:
3 eggs
2 cups 35% cream
1 cup sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
Toppings:
Butter (for topping)
Maple syrup (for drizzling)
Directions:
Preheat Oven:
Set your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Prepare the Dipping Mixture:
In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla, sugar, and cinnamon.
Dip the Bread:
Dip each sourdough stick into the mixture, ensuring it’s well-coated.
Arrange the dipped bread pieces into a baking dish.
Prepare the Custard:
In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, cream, sugar, and cinnamon.
Assemble the Casserole:
Pour the custard evenly over the arranged bread sticks, ensuring all pieces are well soaked.
Bake:
Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 45–60 minutes, or until the custard is fully set and the top is golden brown.
Finish with Toppings:
Remove from the oven and top with small pieces of butter.
Drizzle generously with maple syrup before serving.
