Onion Dip


Chips & dip are the ultimate go-to snack, this onion dip is quick to whip up! Perfect to enjoy with your favourite chip!


Ingredients:

  • 10 oz onion, thinly sliced

  • 2 tbsp brown sugar

  • 1 tbsp water

  • 1 lb cream cheese (two 250g blocks), softened

  • 4 oz sour cream

  • 4 oz heavy cream (35%)

  • Oil, for sautéing

  • Salt & Pepper to taste

Directions:

  1. Caramelize the Onions:

    • In a skillet over low heat, add a little oil and sauté the onions until they’re fully cooked and caramelized, stirring occasionally (this may take around 20-25 minutes).

    • Add the brown sugar and water, stirring until the sugar dissolves and the water evaporates.

    • Remove from heat and set the onions aside to cool completely.

  2. Blend the Dip:

    • In a food processor, add the cooled, caramelized onions and pulse briefly.

    • Add the softened cream cheese, sour cream, and heavy cream.

    • Pulse until the mixture is smooth and creamy.

  3. Serve:

    • Transfer the dip to a serving bowl and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to let the flavors meld.

    • Serve with chips, crackers, baguette slices, or fresh vegetables.
